Ahegao is a Japanese time period used to explain an expression of utmost pleasure or ecstasy, typically depicted in anime and manga. The time period is derived from the Japanese phrases “ahe” (which means “to sigh”) and “gao” (which means “face”). Ahegao faces are sometimes characterised by wide-open eyes, a gaping mouth, and a flushed face.
Ahegao faces are sometimes used to precise sexual pleasure, however they may also be used to precise different feelings, reminiscent of shock, pleasure, and even ache. In some circumstances, ahegao faces could also be used for comedic impact.
